M.I.V.A.T. (Minimally Invasive Video Assisted Thiroidectomy): the minimally invasive thyroidectomy

This is a minimally invasive video-assisted thyroid surgical removal that leaves a scar of only 2 cm through which an endoscope (connected to a camera and screen) and delicate microsurgical instruments are inserted in order to perform the procedure.

This surgical technique is suitable for benign thyroid nodules no larger than 2.5 to 3 cm. The only limitation of this procedure is that it is not applicable in cases of thyroiditis or carcinoma.
